Since launching this project in January of this year, we've kept the pace of virtually visiting one new country each week. Together, each week we explore our dream travel itinerary; fun and unusual facts about that country; we make a special, traditional recipe from the region together; and read a book that is set in that country.
Over the last couple of weeks, you may have noticed that my pace has slowed way down... and it is for the best of reasons! A week ago, here in Berlin, Germany, after more than 6 months of a near lockdown, the Senate has allowed outdoor dining to begin again! In order to participate, we need to show a same-day negative COVID rapid test. Testing is set up nearly every few blocks, so it is easy to pop in, get tested, and then the results are e-mailed to us within a half hour. We have been very much looking forward to this opportunity, and have been taking as much advantage of our new freedoms as possible.
On top of that, we have big news! In weighing all of our options and opportunities for the coming Summertime, with bittersweetness, we have decided to return to the US a month earlier than we had previously planned.
Between wanting to take full advantage of every last bit of Berlin that we can, and with the need to dedicate our energy toward our 'moving home' checklist, I am pressing pause on regularly updating this website for the moment.
I am still making recipes and reading books from our upcoming countries, in the background, that I will begin sharing again with you here in a month or so once we get settled back in the US, when we will be wistfully wishing more than ever that we can travel through Europe.
Thanks for following along so far! Stay tuned!
