This week's virtual visit to #Denmark is my favorite so far, because it is not only on the top of our list to visit while we are here in Berlin - but we had a chance for a quick visit a few years ago! We especially feel connected to Denmark, since we have several friends who live in and are from the Copenhagen area, and we would love to see them again soon! In 2016, when we visited, you can see in the photo above, our friends Martin and Line and their boys, Emil and Frederik welcomed us into their home for a Danish meal and our long-time friend, Lisbeth, was even able to join us as well. It was a really fun afternoon/evening.
I am excited to share with you a few of our photos from our visit to Copenhagen.
When we arrived, we were greeted by our good friends - there's nothing better than that! (Can you believe that these kids did not speak a word of the same language? They taught each other the numbers from 1-10 over the course of the day, but otherwise managed to find ways to communicate and have a wonderful time together, in spite of not sharing a language. We were all pretty impressed by them!)
First up, we stopped to see the Little Mermaid statue, inspired by the work of Hans Christian Andersen.
Our next stop was at a palace right downtown. I'm a bit embarrassed to say that I know nothing about this palace, as we were much more excited to chat with our friends than to look closely at what we were visiting. It was very cool to see, nonetheless.
After that, we decided to see the sights from a different angle, and took a little cruise along the water:
After our boat trip, we walked around the city a bit more, saw a few more sites along the way, and grabbed some drinks.
Then, we went back to see Martin and Line's place, where they hosted us for a fun afternoon (including plenty of backyard trampolining and a viewing of Home Alone 2 for the kids, lots of catching up after a few years, and a delicious Danish meal.
Thank you to Martin and Line for creating such a beautiful memory for us. Copenhagen is such a great city. We hope we will be back to visit in real life before too long!
