This week, since we are virtually visiting #Denmark, when my family and I were ordering lunch one day, I decided to try something I've seen around here in Berlin quite a bit - a 'Danish Hot Dog'. I ordered it from a local burger joint that also sells wings, fries, burgers (of course) and other snacky bites. I wasn't sure exactly what to expect, but as you know by now, I am willing to step out of my comfort zone whenever I can for this project.
Overall, the hot dog was fine, but I am guessing it does not exactly qualify to be called a Danish Hot Dog.
While we were waiting for the food to be delivered, I looked up the recipe, and found this description/recipe.
The hot dog I received, had pickles, mustard and it was on a bun, but that is where it departs from the above description (and many other similar descriptions I found online). First of all, it was a typical looking hot dog that we might find in the US. It was not red, and did it not have the described satisfying snap. Instead of chopped onions, it was covered in (maybe they were deep fried onion flakes?)... deep fried something.
Overall, like I said, it was fine, but I think I will need to visit Denmark in real life someday to enjoy the authentic hot dog!
