Austrian Treasures

Living in Berlin when I know I will be returning to the U.S. at the end of this year has me always thinking, how will I move this item I am buying back with me when I eventually return home? I love tangible ways to remember visiting a new country, and even when I am visiting them virtually through this project, that is no different!

With that in mind, I am trying to choose souvenirs that I can use, and even use up, during our time here in Berlin. I found a couple of wonderful Austrian treasures this week!

The first is a cross stitch kit inspired by the art of one of Austria's beloved sons - Gustav Klimt. Klimt is one of my favorite painters, and a cross stitch kit is the perfect type of activity to occupy me during the pandemic. I just opened it up and got started. I am sure it will take me several months, at least, to finish it - this one is very intricate! - and I will be sure to share the finished project with you once I complete it!

The second treasure is a set of Mozart Kugeln (chocolates) which I found mentioned in my research about Austria in several places. It seems to be a popular sweet treat, featuring, once again, a favorite Austrian celebrity: Amadeus Mozart. As they are so beloved, I can't wait to try them!

Have you ever been to #Austria? If so, what's your favorite Austrian souvenir?
