You may have noticed this week that one of the recipes from our virtual meal in #Croatia called for “Vegeta.” Like me, this may have left you scratching your head.
To be honest with you, the cooking part of this project is a big stretch for me because I’ve never been very comfortable in the kitchen. For that reason I usually start researching the week’s recipe well in advance. Not only do I need to be comfortable with the directions, but I often need to figure out how to translate recipes from other languages; convert measurements to or from the metric system; and find ingredients (or substitutes) that are often tough to find nearby - especially in a pandemic when most things are closed.
So, I got nervous when I saw “Vegeta,” which I had never heard of. Some online research quickly showed it is a seasoning blend that was created/invented in Croatia. Since it seemed important to the dish, I was able to find a container online and have it shipped to me. It’s a great souvenir (since the dish this week only needed a small amount).
I’m looking forward to finding other recipes I can make with it. Any ideas for me?
